About You

Do you enjoy turning complex requirements into clear, workable contracts?

Are you confident working with NEC contracts and providing practical commercial advice to project and technical teams?

If so, this could be a great opportunity to use your expertise on important environmental and infrastructure work.

You will bring:

  • Hands-on experience of drafting, reviewing or managing NEC contracts, particularly NEC4 PSC or ECC.
  • Sound commercial judgement and the ability to identify contractual risks and ambiguities.
  • Experience supporting procurement, tendering, evaluation and contract award.
  • The ability to explain complex issues clearly and build trusted relationships with technical colleagues and suppliers.
  • A collaborative approach that protects client interests while supporting fair and constructive supplier relationships.

You do not need a particular job title, sector background, quantity surveying qualification or formal NEC accreditation. What matters is your practical NEC experience and your ability to make complex contract requirements clear and usable.

When you apply, please use your supporting statement to clearly explain the nature and extent of your NEC experience. Include examples of contracts you have drafted, managed, administered or advised on. This information will form an important part of the assessment process.

About The Role

As Commercial Manager, you will help shape and manage the contracts supporting complex environmental and infrastructure projects.

This is a hands-on role combining contract creation, procurement support and live contract management. You will have meaningful ownership of your work, influence how contracts are set up from the start and help strengthen commercial practice across the organisation.

You will:

  • Draft, review and assure NEC4 PSC and ECC contracts, including Scope, Contract Data and bespoke clauses.
  • Shape procurement strategies, routes to market and evaluation approaches.
  • Support market engagement, tendering, negotiation, award and mobilisation.
  • Advise project managers, engineers, scientists and technical specialists on commercial and contractual issues.
  • Manage contractual risk, early warnings, change and compensation events.
  • Build constructive supplier relationships while protecting public value.
  • Improve templates, guidance and commercial standards.

You will join a supportive specialist team, with opportunities to develop your expertise and work towards formal NEC accreditation.

If you have practical NEC PSC or ECC experience and want to use it on work that helps protect communities and the environment, we would love to hear from you.
